Default Question about cycle shack slip ons adjustment

Got my slip ons today and installed them and took a cruise. Loved the sound and with the removable baffles I can go louder when I see fit. My question has to do with adjusting them. I'll explain the best I can. When the slip on begins to taper down in diameter and where the heat shield meets is different on the top one and bottom. On top there is 3/4 inch or so and on the bottom the gap is closer to 1/4 inch. The difference is noticeable. Is this how they are going to be? If possible I would like the heat shield to meet the larger diameter part of the slip on so there is no gap at all. The top slip on I can slid up that far but on the bottom on there is a hose clamp type clamp that I BELIEVE is holding the heat shield. Can I remove that clamp and have the heat shield just resting on the slip on? It does me no good to move the top one only because then the support bar underneath will not connect to the slip ons.

Love the slip ons look and sound! I will get pictures put up when I complete and figure out how to size the picture to fit. Thanks for any advice.

Ihave that same problem with my Cycle Shacks slip on's. The problem isnt the mufflers , its the heat shield. I never tried to just take off the clamp because I was afraid it would rattle. If you take the clamp off and it doesnt rattle let me know....

If the heat shield touches the slip-on, it will rattle when the motor is running. I believe that is why they designed it totaperdown so there is a slight gap.

You should be able to adjust to gaps closer than what you have. Loosen all the heat shield clamp screws (yes, the hose clamps hold the heat shields on),both muffler to head pipe clamps and the bolts for the muffler support tube. The heat shieldscan move up and down the header pipes a little andthe mufflerscan move forward or rearward due to the slots where the support tube attaches. You don't want the heat shields to touch the mufflers, you'll eventually rub through the chrome and have rust.

Heat shield should not touch slip ons vibration will eventually damage chrome I had the same issue but with a tape measure and some time you can adjust slip ons and heat shields till they are real close to even I got it with in 1/16 thats the best i could get. From the line where slip on starts to taper to edge of heat shield I have 15/16 on top one and 1" on bottom
