06 Dyna Recall Progress
The dealer will pick up and drop off the bike. It is discussed in the service bulletin. Also, I just talked to my dealer and he cited no special tool and said my bike will be ready Friday/Saturday. There is a copy of the document posted here if you need to read it.
I called my local HD service department and inquired about the recall progress. I indicated to him I wanted to wait as I wasn't having any problems. He then told me to get on the list to have the recall work performed as it was a serious issue, and there were more reports of 06 Dynas jumping into gear from neutral.

Mine not going to well. Called local HD dealer four days ago after receiving my notice to make appt and check on the parts (that they are in). I'm told all is well, parts kit was in and to bring it in. I did. Dropped off Sat 12/17/05. A few minutes ago I receive a call from the Service dept saying there is a complication (four days later mind you). Service man tells me there is a special "tool" that is needed to make the necessary repairs and that the special "tool" will not be in until Jan 20th 2006!! I'm holding the phone saying to myself WTF?? Oh, and that they have storage issues and I need to pick up the bike. Jeez, I'm not too happy but I suppose it's no big deal. I just bought the friggin bike (2006 Dyna SuperGlide Custom) not less than 2 months ago. This is my first HD, I hope it's not an omen
)
After reading some of the other posts here, I think I'm gonna wait awhile before taking it back in. I only have 260 miles on the bike.
Maybe I should just wait till the 1000 mile service, but that could take awhile as I only ride for fun when I have time. Just thought I'd post my recall experience.

I received my recall notice in the mail yesterday and trekked over to see my local HD dealer in Valparaiso Indiana. Well, here's what I was told regarding the tranny recall. (Take it for what it's worth - remember this is from a dealer)!
It will be at least 3 weeks before they will get a chance to work on my bike because . . . even though Harley has sent out the recall notices to the new owners, HD has not sent out the tech repair videos (instructions) to the HD service departments. The repair (how-to) videos are supposed to show the HD mechanics how to perform the recall. According to the HD service manager, at this point in time HD mechanics are not/should not be working on the new 6-speed trannies. The service manager stated that NO harley mechanics have ever opened up the new 6-speeds and they shouldn't do so until they have seen the (as of now unavailable) repair videos. The dealer stated the videos are expected within a few weeks.
I don't know if this is an escuse of some sort or what, but they certainly didn't instill any confidence in me. Since snow is on the ground and I won't be riding any time soon - I'll wait a while to get the recall done. Since they truly seemed like they didn't know what they were doing - I think it makes sense to let them get some practice first!
The way I look at it, I'm already playing the part of a guinea pig by buying the new WG - I don't want to be the guinea pig for the mechanics too!!

I believe you got "lamb basted" over the inner primary bearing replacement. That will be done during the 15K service that you would schedule anyway. Ofcourse there is a long wait now, everyone is trying to get it done at the same time.
Yes there is a recall. Bad Moco....bad.
I am not to worried about it. Until I get my bike in I will just ensure I dont idle with out the clutch in.

No "video" needed.
Just an update on my trans recall situation. Since the first HD Service Department gave me the run-around and some BS about a "video", I contacted another HD dealer. They stated they have done a few of the recalls aready and could come pick up my bike next week. No issues, no probems no questions and no "videos". All they asked is for me to have the recall slips handy for them when they pick up the bike. Now that's customer service. I won't let one bad HD service department's misinformation represent all of HD!
