Quick question about Street Bob.....
Is the motor the same as My Standard (01) or does this bike have the "balanced " motor?
Year of street bob is 05-06.
Thanx for all the info

I got the Street Bob because the girlfriend told me to. Ithought about one of those "chick-magnet" Dyna's....

but Iwouldn't be able to affordthe bail money, with the girlfriendb!tch slapping the chicks that would be lining up for a ride.

I got the Bob and love it. The engine finish is the hardest thing to change so best to pick the one you want from the start.

I could never ride a Wide Glide/Chick Magnet. The babes are all over me when I stop for gas on the Kawasaki Concours already for cryin' out loud! When I'm out on the Harley, been through about 13 of them over the years, I almost always have to fight them off. I'm hoping that the Bob's lack of rear seat and lack of passenger pegs will at least shoo away all but the most determined.

This is a case where one should give careful consideration of what features you want on your machine, well before you plunk down that hard earned cash.
The MoCo makes many different flavors to appeal to different likes/dislikes. They sell more machines that way. C'mon now, you did not think they did it to give you a choice did you?

The big problem for us (the buyers) is that a compromise never has everything you want on it. I hear some of you saying buy the basic machine and then customize it to suit.
OK, but all those parts you are gonna spend more hard earned money on are not going to be cheap.
When the dealer includes an item on a particular model the mark up is there, but it is not as much as walking up to the parts counter and saying gimme that some time later on.
A lot of the things you see on other models (yes you have already bought your machine) are fitted at the factory on a specific model and will not fit other models.
Oh, they could be made to fit.....don't misunderstand me. But you better have a budget like Jay Leno and some of his pals to do it.
Gas tank subject.....The Low Rider has it's own tank. The FXDWG has it's own tank. The tank for the FXD is different yet.
To make yourself a Low Rider you need to buy:
a fuel tank
speedo
tachometer
the wiring that goes with those instruments
a fuel gage (and wiring)
gas cap
and the list goes on........
Oh, most of you are going to have the dealer install all this stuff, and at what cost will that be?
Of course if you are Jay L, then cost is the least of your worries so go for it!

But if you are like most of us, cost is foremost. As a practical matter, you should buy what you like in the beginning. Otherwise you spend all your good time looking at another's ride and doing all of that wishing......pg
You makesome excellent points.I was looking hard at the 2007 SG Custom, but found myself asking the dealer about a swap out for the Lowrider bars and riser. I then was into the HD catalogue looking at a replacement all in one tach/speedo for $499. Front higway peg mounts and pegs for $200 plus... After I added it all up, I was within $400 of a Lowrider and I liked the black engine better. I ended up ordering that Lowrider and if the ride's too stiff, I'll just throw on some aftermarket shocks and call it a day.

KTM

Couldn't agree with you more about being a chick magnet.

I bought my 03 wideglide used in 04. My 22 yr old daughter drove me to the dude's house to pick it up. When I drove to the gas station, the female attendant came out to check it out. Now mind you this is a self serve station!! This BABE looked like a Victoria Secret model. All she kept saying is that's a WG and it's the best bike HD ever made. She wanted to go for a ride and was willing to leave the gas station alone. Well my daughter was pissing her pants laughing at me trying to be cool with this BABE. She couldn't wait to get home to tell Mom.

I ride with a bunch of guys with Sportsters, Low Riders, and a Road King. Whenever we stop and people come over they always spend more time at my WG. There all good but the WG rules!
