How do you guys adjust the shocks? Clockwise and up for higher settings and counterclockwise and down for softer?
If you are doing it by hand, are you just twisting or also pulling up?
Does the wrench take all the directional torque and change the setting without pulling upward?
Thanx

I keep rear tire pressure at 40 for 2-up.

The shock has the setting numbers marked 1-5 with a guide markingfor the setting it'sat. On mine it is clockwise for higher setting.

Strap wwrench worked like a charm once I loosened the saddlebag on one left side side. No pulling upward needed - it just moved and clicked into place

no numbers you have to look at position from bottom of shock

And clockwise should increase the tension.

as you adjust the shock from the lowest setting # 1 toward the highest setting #5 the coil spring itself becomes shorter and shorter due to the increased tension. When it goes from 5 to 1 in one click, the spring expands (actually unloads) about 1 inch. Try it, you'll get the hang of it right away.

PS no spring numbers or markings on my 03 WG

Thanx guys but one more stupid question:

Are you twisting the lower or the upper portion of the shock?

I've looked from the bottom up and don't see the old indents like on my older, seventies model bikes. I feel certain ya'll are talking about twisting the bottom of the shock with a right hand twist to tighten the preload but the last thing I need to do right now is break something that will affect the number of good riding days I have left before it gets too cold....ya know what I mean?
