Default Is this dangerous?

Trying to go cheap, I've been stretching and unclamping my clutch and throttle cables so they'll force fit my new handlebars! Dam! I can turn the bars all left and right, but just enough! I did replace the brake line. Am I trying too hard? Putting the left signal housing/clutch lever together is a beeaach too! I think it's because too much tension on the clutch cable. Probably should just pay the extra $.

Anything doing is worth doing right when it comes to your bike.
Go buy the proper length cables and what ever you may need to do it right.
Safety is the issue, not just looks. just my 2 cents ... *grin*

When I took my bike in for an engine build a few weeks ago, custom bars were put on the bike with the stock cables. After time, the cables wore out and wore through the casings. When the tank was off, I replaced all the cables with properly sized braided cables. I personally wouldn't compromise on anything that could potentially interfere with the handling, thus safety, of the bike; or that would potentially leave you stranded.

Do it right the first time, you won't regret it.

Clutch cable will most definatly need replacing. Throttle and idle cables may just be okay, depending on how they are routed now. If they are currently routed so they pass through the tripple trees, you might be able to gain a little length by re-routing them so they no longer pass thru the trees, but run from the bars to directly under the fuel tank. I did this on my 03 FXD when I switched to 10 inch mini apes.

I'll be blunt here, spend the money and do the job right..just my 2 cents worth, nothing worse then looking at a sweet looking bike and then see where they went cheap on something that just jumps right out there at ya.

I don't want to sound like an azz, follow all your cables and make sure they are not clamped down or see if you can reroute the clutch cable some how.I put 4in.risers on my street bob but I gave up onit for a few months before I realized some cables were held down to the frame on the backbone. Hope that helps......
