Got my '08 Super Glide in August. Never paid any attention to the throttle controll **** under the throttle until last week when I was waxing the bike to put away for the cold months. Of course while putting wax either on or off, I turned this ****. Didn't get on the bike again until today and I could tell something wasn't right. I didn't have the 'feel' when I throttled - I was used to the way I held my wrist and knew pretty much how much to pull to go and so on.......NOT NOW!

How do I get it back to where it was? I'm not familiar enough with it at all to know what is normal - is there a secret to finding a nice medium point where I'm not going to 'hurt myself' by having it set too tight or too loose? Dropped the bike at the corner because when I went to let off the clutch and throttle, it wasn't what I was expecting. Nothing hurt but some scratches on the new Rineharts (which is going to eat away at me ALL WINTER!) but now I'm afraid that I don't know what to do next spring when I get it back out - - - just want to get it back to 'middle normal ground' and go from there.

I'm a new rider so any and all advice is MUCH appreciated!

 

I'm guessing that the throttle did not return to normal idle position, when you had your mishap? It's just a friction cruise control, for lack of a better term. I just back mine off, clockwise (if looking down from the top), until I feel no resistance when letting go of the throttle. It should almost snap back, not move slowly. If it moves slowly, back it off a little more. Be careful, if you back it off too much, it (the little spoked wheel) will come off(unthread). Kinda hard to put into words, but I hop ethis helps.
