Default fitting a new exhaust...advice needed

G'day guys, about to order a new exhaust (V & H Big Shots Staggered) and wanted to know what other new parts I need, ie do I need to replace exhaust gaskets, do they come with the new exhaust?, what do I do with my active exhaust module?? Do I need to by a eliminator or by-pass for it?? What the best anti=seize to use on the O2 sensors? I just want to make sure I have everything on hand during replacement as I am 3 hours away from the closest Harley Dealer.

Also can someone please explain what a Stage one modification is. I have a SE air intake so the by-pass for the original is already done and I have SE slip-ons, is this a stage 1, or is it to do with the ECU??

Thanks in advance, be gentle I am a newbie

Vance and Hines will provide all the hardware (nuts/bolts etc.) for installing the pipes. You will need to have antiseize compound, locktight and new exhaust gaskets. Some say you don't need to replace the gaskets but I did. It's pretty easy you just pry them out with a screw drive. Just be carefull not to gouge anything.
Stage 1 is high flow intake filter, exhaust andECU download. These bike run real lean stock, if you do something to make it breath easier (intake/exhaust) you have to do something to richen up the fuel/air mixture going into the cylinders, otherwise you will lean it out even further causing it to run hot enough to possibly burn a valve or a hole in the piston.
Hope this helps!

Hi, as you have the active exhaust like us in the UK you dissconnect the wire cable that runs to it (dead easy) then you need an electrical blanking plug to go into the electrical part of the active valve. This fools the active valve into thinking its still working. Without this you will get fault codes appearing on your instruments.
Are you going to change the air filter ie. An Arlen Ness Big Sucker to give more air flow to complement the V&H pipes.
If you are you will need to richen your fuel / air ratio by means of a SERT or V&H Fuel Pak or such like.
If you go with the V&H Fuel Pak the electrical blank for the active exhaust will come with it.
You will also get the electrical blank for the back of the air filter (same reason as for the exhaust valve).
If all this sounds daunting its not there are videos on the V&H website that explains it all.
There is loads of advice already on the forum (do a search) or just ask and you will get all the help you might need.
