A couple of years ago I bought a Wide Glide turn signal relocation kit and put it on my Intruder 1400. They both had 41mm forks. Since Wide Glides are the best of the Dynas, your theory goes up in flames.
Sorry, I didn't mean to reply to Jetpat's post. Stupid newbie mistake.
actually I think you will find the soft tail frame is lighter and they do have two shocks. but then we just don't show them ......

I doubt that they really are better, but if you had to name something, I'd go with the motor.
Softys have the TC88B motor with the B meaning it has a counter Balance in the motor which is more weight being set in motion taking away power from the motor. That, along with the heavier frame weight needed on the softy for what ever reinforcement is needed since it only has one rear shock all add up to less get-up-and-go with stock motors.
The other reason they are better is because I own one, which makes it mine and that makes it better.
That's true. I think a Dyna Wide Glide is heavier than it's Softail FX counterpart.
Either way . . . I really like that new FatBob. Mean looking Machine.
Softail owner here (obviously) I'll be the 1st to tell you rear suspension sucks sh__ thru a straw. Other than that, it's a helluva machine. Very stable. Smooth at most speeds. Slight buzz at higher speeds (near 100) Hardly noticeable, just not deadnuts smooth like a Glide. No wobbles, shakes . Rides like it's on a rail (as long as the rail doesn't have any bumps.
