Default '08 SB and 2-up riding

Hello all, quick question that I hope some of you can help me out on. I am new to the HD family, so I am a little confused on everything as far as what I need to do to my bike in order to be able to throw my wife on the back for short trips around town. What exactly do I need? Do I just need to add a 2 up seat, pegs, anda small sissy bar? What parts/kits would I need? When I search HD's website, some of the item decriptions are a little vague. Can I use detachable sideplates? Or do I need to relocate turn signals? So damn confusing [:@]. Thanks for any and all help!

New and going throught the same thing. I want all detachable because my wife has her own bike and we will rarely ride 2 up. There are cheap fixes but the look CHEAP. You need a seat, passenger pegs, sissy bar (not needed but I would perfer one) It's my understanding that the lights do need to be relocated, yadda yadda yadda.

Both the web site and the 2008 catolog are vague and even the dealer scratches his head when he's looking for the parts I want. I'm going to wait a few months while it all gets sorted out.

I know this don't help with your question but I wanted you know I understand the confusion.

Eh - had the same question for my dealer. They told me I could get away with passenger pegs and suction cup pillion pad. Get a 2-up seat if you wanna spend the cash. My wife is gonna be riding my old bike anyway, now....so thank God I don't have to worry about this anymore!

HD Passenger Footpeg Support Kit for Dyna '06 & later: 49249-06 $129.95 (choose your own pegs 'cuz I don't think they're included)
Then pick any suction pillion pad you want from your favorite catalog

They didn't tell me I needed to relocate anything. Then again, I wasn't asking about a sissy bar and all.

Just been through the mill on this one, I got the Streetbob pillion seat that attaches to the solo seat, pain in the rseseparating them ect when you want solo again, end up gettin a badlander seat for when my missus wants to ride and got another nut and circlip so the solo nut stays put (because it's a pain to remove and fit) and when I want to put the badlander seat on its just remove the solo seat screw, pull off seat, fit new seat and nut/circlip (the rear one's easy using a cable tie) and away you go, takes all of 2 minutes. It is not neccesary to moves turn signals. Fitting the footpegs is easy. All parts are in the Harley parts catalogue.

I look at Ebay at least once a day for Dyna parts and there are some passenger peg mounts on Ebay, right now, for 06 and up Dyna's as well as various sizes of backrests/pads and seats. You can save so much more money by ebay or go look in the parts for sale section of this forum.

I have a 06 streetbob and got the full optional 2up installed by the dealer in Holland. There is a detachable sissybar, pillion with quick connect, footpegs and detachable bags.

My wife finds it very comfortable although we haven't done any long distances. The good thing is that I can take it off in 1 minute and the bike looks clean.

I don't know why so many complain about the passenger pillion. It comes of really easy, looks OK and is reasonably comfortable. In my mind there is no other option except to buy a second duo seat but this is a lot more work to put on ond take off.

I prefer to ride alone, but the occasional 2up ride will keep my wife supportive of the Harley

i like the corbin classics 2 up and solo seats minus the studs, although they're expensive, they dohave backrests to go with the 2 up, no siissy bar. some of their more narrow seats i think are ugly andlack the nostalgic look the classics have for a streetbob.

You will need new rear signal stems if you go with thedetachable sissy bar/sideplates.

I used:

"HD detachable sideplates" part #52866-06

"HD turn signal relocation kit" part #53968-06(hint: use some lube to get the wires threaded through the skinny hole on the stems.)

"HD docking hardware kit" part #53961-06.

"HD short rail upright" part #52737-94A(your choice of upright height of course)

"HD short rail backrest pad - smooth" part# 52517-94

The MoCo makes you buy each piece separately ($$$) when it should come as a kit.

That's what I used onmy '07 Street Bob.

I bought the passenger pillion seat but it didn't match the lines on my stock seat so I am thinking of having some upholstry work done to make it match. I modified it so that is easily removeable but I had to purchase another stock solo seat mounting bracket, screw, and screw retainer for the fender. Now the rear seat forward bracketslips up under the stock seat and I install the screw to secure it. I also added suction cups to the bottom to add a little more security for the front from moving. I purchased pegs as well as the rear mount peg kit for the bike. The rapture bar I later installed for looks and it does have a rubber back rest pad that fits on it as well to double as a backrest. All in all it was around $450.
