Rather than punching a humungus 2" hole, which I thought was a little too big, I hit it with a 1-7/8 and cleaned it up with a drum sander on a dremel.
Came out super clean and didnt need a grommet to hide the screwups..
Finshed it off with some touchup paint on the bare metal I got at Pep Boys.
Because its a SG and the screw heads are exposed, I'll swap them out for some allen heads when I find the ones I like.

To keep from having 2 keys on the ring, I took the switch to the locksmith and had it rekeyed for 30 bucks.

You can do that on the bobs and lows. You've got a flat panel to work with. The SG's arent afforded that luxury.

Amish,
Rekeying is changing the lock pins in the new lock to match the original key, so you only have to carry one key and the fob. Unless youre well versed in lock design, this is a task I recommend a locksmith handle

Hey Chop, what did you use for a grommet?

I am getting ready to do this mod on a Super Glide. I am doing away with the fuel gauge and will mount the new ignition switch in the old fuel gauge hole. I purchased the Harley chrome fuel gauge bezel to use as a trim piece. I got some trimming to do to make it work. I want something to seal around the switch to the edges of the hole in the dash, and underneath the chrome bezel.

Thanks for any help you may offer with the grommet description, part number, source, and such.

JMPAN Coast,

I wrote earlier on this post in regards to the grommet I used, you should be able to get it at any auto store , its a 2 inch reducer for the radiator hoses. It fits perfectly over the switch and seals it, after you make the hole in the dash you will have to take a dremmel and play with the diameter till you get the switch and the grommet to go in, I wanted a tight fit so no water gets in so take your time widening the hole ensure the switch turns freely as well dont want it to tight. after I was happy with fit it took some shoe glue and put a bead around the grommet on the insidejust to seal it better and to keep the grommet from moving, and so far so good with no issues, by the way you can also use RTV to seal on the inside. Hope this helps!
