and with a c piece of iron I make a central hole for the ball and later holes for mount where the tank is attached.
I've seen thi from another member of this forum (yeah).

Thanks for the mention, You did a great job, But you didnt make a 2" tank rise out of it also..
I appoligize for not sending pics when you requested..Heres some now..

Check out Muds air cleaner mod also. This is a great set-up,, but only on road trips. All this along with a set of E5 ear molds really rock on the highway. But on and off at every stopfor local runs, isnt wort it.. ( unless you dont know where your goin)

Well I emailed the guys at Techmount on the off chance

that they could modify a stem mount to work with the threads on a harley stem.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like that is going to work, so it's back to my search.

Anyone on the forum figured out a clean looking way to mount a gps tight to the bike?
jackyl is probably workin on somethin soon would be my guess.

When he gets through celebrating.

Yea Mud I designed the bracket , sent drawings to RudeDog and he fab'ed the riser for me. I then krinkle coated the bracket, tapped dead center for the Ram mount.. The Gps and Sirus plate was made from some old Computer harddrive mounting cages I had layin around. Then krinkle coated , and mounted the electronic's .. All in all it came out pretty good. I quess I should have listed in your 'Under 50 $' thread.. I've got the original cad drawing of the bracket somewhere, just cant find it now..
Heres a shot before I tapped for Ram Mount.
Here with the Ram Mount and bolt head covers

Nice Ronn. Nice clean execution.

Haven't heard from Dog for quite awhile.

Hope he's doin OK.

Better send him a PM, and wake him out of hibernation.

Put this one in the under 50 thread, if you don't mind.
This is a real good one.

Alright, I need a little more hlep with this one.

I talked to the guys from Techmount and they don't have any stem mount brackets that are desinged for a Harley. They were nice enough to tell me that all of their mounts are connected to the pivot base using a 10-32 bolt. I've confirmed what the guys at the dealership said andthe stem cover on a Dyna are a 5/16 thread.

So, I'm looking for a helicoil for a 10-32 bolt with an outside diameter of 5/16. I haven't had a chance to swing by NAPA and see if they sell such a thing, so does anyone know where I can locate one.

Helicoils do not use standard threads on the OD.
There are threaded inserts, but I doubt in the thread combination you are looking for. The diameters are to close together.

Mr. E - thanks for the tip, I'd been searching the McMaster-Carr site for 'helicoils' and hadn't thought to look for 'threaded inserts'. It appears that they make a threaded insert with the sizes I need, and it's offered in stainless steel.

Now I'm off to the garage with a tape measure to try and figure out which Techmount will be the right height.

I should have posted this earlier.
Firefighters' mount/tank lift combo went out last week but the bad news is I forgot to take a picture to post up. He said he would come through once he gets it mounted. Or I could just whip up another? Any takers?
