Default GPS on a Dyna

Ok guys, looking for a little help here. I asked for a GPS from Santa, and jokingly stated that I wanted one that would work on the bike and in my truck. Much to my surprise I recieved a Zumo 550. Now I'm stuck at work this morning, scratching my head about how to mount it to the bike without completely ruining the look. I tend to run without a windshield, so I'd concerned that the Zumo will look out of place on the handlebars. I don't expect to use it for directions while riding, but would like it to log where I ride, and be readily available for those rare times that I get myself lost. I'd appreciate ideas from any Dyna riders that have tackled this challenge.

Check this site out, if you haven't already, the ram mounts tend (for me) to be a little gaudy, but they look completely functional/solid, and adjustable. I'm in the same boat trying to make a mount for both my garmin gpsmap60csx and my garmin nuvi. I bought a power adapter which goes into my heated gear pig tail, so keeping them charge won't be an issue, now just trying to fabricate something to hold them to my bars without taking too much away from the look,. and a suitable way to keep the power cords out of the way, yet easy to access. Keep me posted, and we'll
share ideas. BTW my bike is 08 dyna fat bob. Anyway, here's the link, hope it helps.

you can also find them at gpscity, same mount/price but site seems to be easier to navigate. Forgot to mention that appears you can buy the parts separately if you're looking to piece something custom together:

There's another more expensive mount out there, i'll look for the link now, one that costs a little over $100, but is metal and might go with your lookmore, i'll search for it now. I'm basically trying to make an old specialized bicycle pump mount fit both my gps. My bars on the fat bob are 1 1/4" so finding a good clamp for them is proving somewhat of a challenge. I'm slow on this process, but as soon as I get something put together, I'll post some pics. I'm not much of a practical engineer when it comes to these things, but i'll do the best I can.

I bought a TomTom Rider 2 recently that came with a Ram mount. The Ram came with a mounts for a couple of bar sizes. It was reasonably accomodating in that it allowed a variety of mounting options. The attached photos aren't that great, but you'll get the idea.

I tend to ride without a windscreen also and I have drag bars, so there's no cool place to mount a GPS or anything else without spoiling the look I've sought. Honestly, I have zero interest in a GPS for general purpose riding. But I'm planning a trip fromk Dallas to Alaska this summer and bit the bullet on what seemed to be a good GPS deal.

Heres a pic of my UC with mounts from cyclegadgets.com. Couldn't find a good location on my WG to mount it, so just use it on my UC.

The RAM mounts look good, I'm just not sure about having the GPS hanging out there on the mini apes. Does anyone know of a mount that would put it down on the tank panel or somewhere a tighter to the bike?

What aboutsomething that mountson the console? That would give you the ability to look at it once in a while, andwould also keep thehandle bars clean looking. I don't know of anything myself just throwing out an idea. I know on my Wide Glide they have the extended console you can buy from HD and maybe fab some sort of mount into that. It appears to be plastic not metal. Just my thoughts.

Check out Tech Mounts as well: http://www.techmounts.com/products/i...ARLEY-DAVIDSON

They make some nice-looking mounts. I used one to mount an E-Z Pass (toll booth transponder) to my bike. It wasn't the cheapest solution to the problem, but it's one of the best looking.
