hk - That's a real good question with applying the texture over the high temp but I kinda doubt the high temp will insulate enough heat to prevent the problem. If your powder coater is willing to experiment again give it a shot. I'd love to know what you find!!

Still looking for suggestions on black exhausts...I haven't seen anything that looks better than the Rineharts IMO.

been there, done that and heres my experience: i took the heat shields on my v-rod to powderkote plus in daytona to have them coated and dave who knows his stuff, said that it would not take the heat and refused to coat any part of the exhaust system.... so i took them to PC of gainesville and had them coated... i put them on the bike and they looked great.... 5k miles later, the coating near the head was scorched.... i took it off the bike and had it jet hot coated and the story had a happy ending.... just relating my experience..
if i didnt want to spend the money for jet hot, i would have the shields sand blasted and use paint...at least you can repaint when it gets funky
