Default Fat Bob exhaust

I know it’s been discussed, but today I did the removal of the packing and punched a big hole in the middle of the baffle, better but still no cigar. So I figured what the hell, can’t hurt to try, I removed the baffles completely. What a mean sounding S.O.B! Lost a little low end, but it will still pull a good hole shot, pull the front end off the ground, break rubber in 3 gears with little effort, and is just plain wicked on the hwy for a stock machine.
Sound is a loud low rumble, surging is nonexistent. I still have the baffles of course, so I’m gonna ride a few days to decide. What I really want to do is leave it like it is, pop on a PCII and a Doherty PowerPACC with Power Vents and then see what it feels like. Hwy running is great, I took it out right after I pulled em and ran 120 down the road and it wasn’t breaking a sweat. I will eval better tomorrow, no sleep the last 48 makes me question the results till after I catch a wink or two.

Maybe you should check on these http://www.bigcitythunder.com/pages/product-fit.html, if you want a cheap alternative to changing out the pipes while keeping the lower end torq. I am getting Vance and Hine Pipes ,Fuel Pak SE Air Filter.

I will call them today, thanks much for that link. That may be the finishing touch to running w my modified (gutted) stock pipes. Looks like there may be two options, a replacement baffle or the header insert.
26 degrees at 6:30 this morning, woke up the whole apt complex and set off every alarm in the joint. I would prefer to keep the stock pipes, I actually like the look. I am guessing that the reason these dont sound like crap as I have heard many big cans sound after stripping the baffle out is the cat in there causing some back presure, I ran around the block last night with no muffler at all and it sounded great. The saga continues.

They are closed till the 7th, I’m going to run em open till then so I get a real feel for it. I say pull em out if ya wanna try it, they aren’t that hard to put back in if you don’t like it. You might have an issue trying to repack the wadding, but I say that stuff isn’t needed anyway, you won’t miss it, the wadding removal and hole punch at least sound a little better and almost no discernable performance issues, thanks to storm for that idea, when putting the baffles back in, make sure both ends line up, the rivet holes as well as the other end must line up or it’s a bitch, thanks to storm for that tidbit.
I’m off to rock the world, it don’t get cold nuff here to keep me from having some fun

Glad I could be of help. I am hoping Rush or Khrome Werks comes to the rescue soon. I still have my baffles in. I am out of state without my ride so it isnt that much of an issue to me yet. I hear the weather back home isnt that great for riding anyway. I am looking very forward to the first warm dry day though after I get home....

Here is a very easy method to get back some exhaust pressure and low end torque. POCOCJ has it posted in the exhaust section:
https://www.hdforums.com/m_79533/tm.htm

It only cost a copy of dollars in parts. I welded a large washer onto a screw head. It should just bolt to the same hole that your muffler was attached to.

I put some miles on it today, I like it this way ok, it still gits n *****, but there are a couple flat spots. I wouldnt run this way forever if I made that change alone, but I plan on adding the PCIII and mass air soon so I can live w it till then. I am going to call about the thunder baffles on the 7th, and/or might try the setuo tmith refers too, although I dont know how good that will work on mine seeing as I have to install them in the header before the pipe clamp area. I may end up going with my original plan and sticking the Rush slip on w 2.25 baffles, I DO like LOUD.
I ran a hole shot drag down a side streat and was ok with the performance in that area, 1st red lined too easy though, need 6200.
Anyone work with this on the bob or related I am sure will post.

Ok, I put the baffles back in today, took 30 min. ran great in town, dead spots at some hwy speeds. Souns great in town, dont like the sound on the hwy. So Im going to go ahead and do the rush slip ons, (I ws just fooling around anyway). It was fun to pull em out an run around a couple days, but when I started riding 60 miles RT to work every day it got old on the road fast, it wasnt the loud I had issues with, it just wasnt "right" at speed. If all works out I should be getting pipes in two weeks, till then Ill jusy be the quiet guy in my circle. (and listen to folks say "start yers 1st so we can hear it"). Butt wipes
By the way 6:13pm and its still 76degrees, so all is not bad.
