You shouldn’t have any problem, aren’t most chubby bays 1 inch at the controls and risers anyway? I have run wires in the z bars of the attached pic. I have also done a Road Glide in a pair of Gimps, note baggers with all of the buttons have twice the wires that my old softail had.

You'll have no problems. The 1 1/4" bars I.D.s are also 1" dia.

hey loner - how the heck did you run internal wires in crazy z bars? looks almost impossile due to the bends.
can't even see the wires in your pic, are they behind the risers?

Yes you can do it. I suggest cutting off the factory wiring protection and replacing it with the smallest shink tubing that will fit all the wires. I had to do that on RK when I changed to street slammers and it made life a whole lot easier. But as posted you probably have a lot fewer wires than I had to work with.

I got a set of the 16" Gimps to put on my Wide Glide as one of the first mods when I get home. I'm not too worried about the difficulty as I'm looking forward to working on my ride period! But, what would you rate the difficulty on a 1 to 10 scale?

Its not that had just take your time. There is a good thread on taking the plug under your tank apart and then running the wires. This will save you a lot of time over cutting and splicing. Personally I used weed eater line to fish through the bar. Then I attached the wire to it and carefully pulled the wire though. Also note on the gimps there is a small hole at the bottom bend. I worked each wire from the control through the small hole and then to the hole in the center of the bar. I would suggest doing this two step process one wire at a time.

The wires on the z bars go through the risers as well and dump out through the top tree.

I just did this!!!!.... here is what you want to do....1. Mark where you want to drill at the bottom of the bars while they are still on 2remove the bars and the controls....3. drill a hole in the indent on the grip part and in the middle on the bottom of the bars and make sure you de bur them, i used a de burring tool as well as a dremil to make it smooth on the inside and out 4. Cut the wires near the bottom of the neck 5. with the wires cut figure how much extra you are going to need to solder on to go from the handle to the area that has been cut and solder on the extensions, I starggered my solder points so that they would go through the hole a bit easier. 6. take some fishing line and blow it through the bars till it comes out thought the lower hole, tie on a thicker sting and pull though, then hook on the wires and pull thought, now just solder back together, do not forget a big piece of shrink wrap to go around all the wires at the bottom for a leaner look....
Let me know if i can help in any way!

thanks for the feedback. your bike looks bad a-- im going to give the wiring a shot as soon as i get the manual i just sent for. ive got a front fender project going now. my rivits were loose and the paint was chipped around each one so i ground them off. figured as long as i need paint anyway i would do some cutting. did that today. thanks again
