Lower slider removal question
OK....so I've got my forks removed from the bike and laying on the garage floor. My question/confusing is this: the service manual takes you through totally disassembling the fork tubes and sliders. Is there a shortcut for just removing the lower slider?

I replaced the sliders on a 06 street bob for a friend of mine. I used the service manual, and it was a pretty easy swap. I would say use the manual.

I just did mine....I tried to do it without taking everything apart but seemed easier to just change my springs now instead of later like I was planning. Need to follow manual....no real short cut. I guess if you break the 12mm allen bolts free on bottom you could drain fluid that way, then take off dust caps, retaining clips and pull sliders. My only issue/concern is that if you dont remove top caps and relieve spring tension it might not allow you to do what you need or put assembly under tension while trying to disassemble.
