I just received the saddlebags and ezbrackets I ordered from leatherneckjim and they look great. My question is, I've heard complaints here that the brackets rattle. Has anyone come up with a fix for this and/or has anyone tried putting small pieces of packing tape on the top lip of the lock or around the mounting holes to get a tighter fit?
I had a set on my FatBoy that didn't rattle at all. If you loosen the bolts that hold the QD thimbles to your fender brace, you'll find that the thimbles can be moved a tiny bit then & re-tighten the bolts.
Just remember, if you're gonna put on a detachable sissy bar, you're gonna need to relocate your rear signals possibly. Also you'll need an extension kit from your EZ bracket company. The bolt kit they sent me was incorrect. The bolts need to be the same length, they sent me 2 different lengths. Just an FYI.

First step is make sure you have a problem that needs fixing.
Not a reflection on the site, but forums are by nature whiney. It's because it's not worth posting to say things are great. So what you'll see posted are complaints when things go wrong.
I did get the right mounting bolts and do have the detachable backrest, and did not need to move the turn signals (WG model). I mounted the brackets and they did jiggle a little by hand. I looked at the locking mechanism and that's where the movement was (up and down). I wrapped the lock lever in packing tape until it was just think enough to be tight, seems fine now. Will test ride this weekend (I hope). BTW the bags are called Tomcats, from the leatherneckjim website (actually leatherworksinc bags).
I've heard some people have shimmed one post per side with a thin washer, Iguess it offsets the bracket to eliminate most if not all the rattle. Mine rattle when light loaded (near empty) but seem to be okay when full.
