Hi All,

Looking for some new bars for my 2007 FXDC, I'm sure that what I want is out there somewhere...But there are so many catalogues, hoping one of you can save me some time

I like the original bars...
The way they look
The angle of the grips
The height

But I need them a good two inches closer to me...Got a back problem & need to sit up straighter

Would be good to have somthing fatter, so I can put the wires inside.

I dont want to user risers, partly because of the look & partly because I'v got my tacho set up on the clamp and want to keep it there.

Any ideas of something that will do the job?

If you don't want to use risers, it sounds like you are pretty much limiting yourself to T-bars, which is what I went with. I have back problems as well (3 herniated lower discs and 3 uppers) but the stock bars didn't seem to be causing me a problem with that. I just didn't like the stock height with my 6'4" height and I didn't like the angle and the position my wrists were in. I needed something just a little taller with my hands more straight out to the sides. I went to the dealer and checked out different options to get just the right feel I was looking for. I liked the looks of the T-bars with 6" integrated risers but ended up with 8" risers for the perfect fit. There are lots of other options if you are willing to use separate risers. Maybe I am just confused about your comment about not wanting to use risers. Are you actually willing to use the basic risers and just don't want anything taller? Or do you not want risers at all? In any case, here are a few pics showing different angles of my bars. Also, there have been other similar posts to this in the past. So, you should be able to search and find posts that already include pix of different options.

j. p. cycles has a small riser the sets the bars 2 inches back towards you but their not cheap about 175 bucks

 

I put Drag Specialties flat track bars on my FXDC along with some 4" high pullback risers. Overall, the grips arenearly 4" closer to me now. The bars alone come back about 2" further, but they're not as high as the stock bars. I know you said you don't want to change risers, but you'll get a couple inches further back with them. I have a Harley mini tach on mine with a 67207-04 Softail Standard mounting bracket to put it at the right angle with the pull back risers.

Something to keep in mind when trying to get a lot of pullback from bars alone...if you keep the same width, wrist angle is going to suffer.

Flanders has some "Super Glide" style bars that may be close to what you want. From Sideroadcycles.com

Have you thought about Beach Bars. May go that route with my Low Rider this summer. Missed a great set for cheap on eBay last month.

I just put "Chubby Wild 1's Low Profile" bars on my Low Rider for the same reasons as yours (need about 2" more pullback, risers and bar are one solid piece, wiring goes inside bars). Finished Saturday afternoon and the test ride was great, more control on turns, just better feedback from the bike all around. I will try to get some pics when the weather clears.
