So today I install the 2 1/2" aluminium pullback risers I ordered from that big aftermarket catalog for around 42 bucks. Upon tightening everything back up, not over tightening in my opinion, I notice one of the risers cracks. F**k! Anyway I put the old ones back on and now I'm contemplating my next move. Do I order original HD pullback risers? Are they made of the same cheap aluminium? How about just better quality aftermarket? Any advice guys? Thanks in advance.
I got mine, already coated from eBay. But they seem pretty heavy to be aluminum. And they have the bar&shield cast into the top clamp. I'd send them back, even if they are aluminum they shouldn't of cracked unless you really torqued the crap out of them.
Most likely they are forged ALU, it is strong enough for to be a riser but it is weaker than billet part. I have heard of this before, send them back and get another set.
