Default 2008 dyna FXD workshop manual how many books needed for complete set

Hello every one

How many books are needed for a complete workshop manual.

I am a bit confused, i have seen a manual for the wiring also. Or does the manual come in sections. Say one for brakes, one for engine.

Any clues would be great.

The reason for this is i am looking to buy a complete workshop manual and spare parts manual as well.

I live in Australia so the postage will be expensive.

The '08 dyna, to best of my knowledge, has 3 manuals: parts manual, service manual, and electrical diagnostics manual. The service manual has the wiring diagrams for the bike, so elec. diag. probably not needed, but also has the wiring diagrams. parts and service were must haves for me this past weekend on my handlebar install, elec. diag. came in handy for referencing 2 different wiring diagrams at same time, but wasn't essential to the job. hope this helps. if there's more than these, I don't know about them, but would be interested to find out.

to answer your other question, the service manual is broken down into sections, starting schedule services in chapter 1, then individual bike sections in subsequent chapters, followed by the wiring diagrams, connector locations, torques, a couple more appendices.

One more thing, welcome to the forum.

slime, the Service Manual includes most everthing.

Parts Catalog is also a must have, in my opinion.

There is also an Electrical Diagnostics Manual.
I don't have this one, but should get one.

This link may be too long, if so,
go to the HD website, then parts, then manuals -

edited to add link to Parts Catalog -

+1 for sure

I've used my service manual a bunch, never used the electronics diagnostics manual (knock on wood) but the parts manual is something that should be considered a must-have along with the service manual book.

After dealing with the dolts at my local dealers, getting wrong parts, never in stock, wait another week while they order the right one.. yada, yada, it is SO NICE to be able to request parts by part number AND order them from zanotti and KNOW I'm getting what I need.

Service manual + parts book and you're all set

Ok now i know how many there are.

thank you all.

My next surprise was the postage to Australia $35-45 per book may be $55 for all three.

Any tips on the best place to purchase these. yes i am looking on ebay thats where the price of $35-45 comes from.
