I have the forward controls,i find them a bit of a stretch after 60 70 miles,so im thinking of putting the mid controls back on but also keeping the forward controls on and just using the mid controls for a rest peg.

I skipped work today it was 88 degrees in Dallas. I am bad. I was sick all weekend and I don't know how I am going to explan my sunburn but back to the topic. I rode about 200 miles today and having the mids for the windy conditions was a god sent. I did go back and forth to the highway pegs but I felt more in control on the blacktop doing 85 with mids. Winds were gusting to 35 miles and I had a shield on the bike and when I went to highway pegs it was a struggle. I am only 5'5" though.
Yeah it was nice wasnt it? I rode all over the place thinking I had tonight off for a vacation day, 3 pm the boss calls n canceled it, so I got about 3 hrs sleep and here I am. Windy as hell 9pm ride out of irving to frisco.
Wanted to fire off a couple hundred rounds today, open range off Luna is closed on mon n tuesday I found out, Bass Pro firing range closed for upgrade or something, so I just got to ride around all day w bags full of heat n nowhere to shoot.

I'm beginning to realize I'm not tall enough for forwards. I'm 5'9" and when I put my feet on my highway pegs I can't relax them. I feel like they might fall off the peg. Mainly because of the air cleaner getting in the way on the right side. So it looks like I'm sticking with my mids too.

Another two cents-

Ilove mid pegs. I learned on them and feel more in control - like other posts. I have highway pegs for comfort on long rides or to stretch for a while. But to stand up for a few seconds to see in slow traffic, to have the ability to put a foot down (doesn't happen much but if necessary a split second and body postion is key). Just my thoughts.

I've done both and prefer the forwards. In fact, I have a Deuce that not only has the forwards but I extended them another couple of inches past stock. My Fat Bob was ordered with forwards. I think it, in part, depends on how you use the bike. If I used mine around town, I might prefer the mids. But, I tend to use my Deuce, and now the Fat Bob, like most use their Ultra's. I think the forwards are much more comfortable for a long trip.

My bike came with forwards. The guy who owned it was pretty tall. 1st thing I did was change it back which he paid for.(I sold the forwards on this site). At 5'4" I don't have much choice! In fact, the main reason I wanted a Dyna was because of the mids!

Mid-controls suck. I took them off as soon as I got my 07 FXDC Superglide and put forwards on them. Who wants to ride around all crunched up (I'm 6 ft tall). In our HOG chapter, we have 5 ft. 6 in. 140 pound guys riding Dynas, Road Kings and Street Glides with forward controls and they handle their bikes just fine.
