Helmets DOT Aproved
A word about NEXL.
The made nice helmets but I read that the owner died and company has filed for bankruptcy.
People paid and didn't receive helmets.
Took me about 4 months to get my money back and thatwas before they filed for bankruptcy.

one of my issues with DOT half helmets is the wind pushing head back and making neck sore on long trips (not to mention the mushroom effect). as far as the full face helmets go i was wearing one back in 1988 while riding in left lane when a car came out of a driveway between 2 cars stopped for a light in the right lane and T boned me. needless to say my right leg didn't fare to well. i believe that the helmet reduced my side vision enough that i could have avoided the crash if i had a half helmet. i tossed the full face and have never worn one since.
It is so sad that they make LEOs deal with such trivia as checking whether or not a helmet is really DOT approved. You would think we would need them to do something with a bit more impact, like enforcing traffic laws or catching crooks.
A few years ago I saw a guy run a red light, zooming right past a squad car waiting for the light. No reaction. Maybe he was waiting for a biker with a fake DOT sticker to drive by.

I use a skidlid. It's so close to the Fulmer Hombre that I can't tell the diff from the pics, but mine is chrome. Very high quality and only $40 bucks on the web. Both skidlid and Fulmer are using the same trick to make it look MUCH thinner. They've got straps that are a bit heavier looking and attached right under the shell. Looks pretty thin from the front and back. Doesn't lift, buffet,or wobble at speed either.
Really like those ACC helmets, but they'reas much as a set of Kury forwards! I'll chancelooking like a p*ckerhead until I've wasted...I mean invested...all that cash on my bike first, LOL!

Daytona Helmets 3/4 DOTare very thin. I have two and they look just like the old 70's helmets.http://www.daytonahelmets.com/AllPro...?categoryid=25

#1 Original - thin straps - smooth brow - no visor or snaps - chopper style
#2 Traditional - thick straps - "mini" visor - not replacable if you break it, you'll have to drill out the rivets and toss it. I have this one in chrome.
#3 Classic - thin straps - snap-on visor and zip off neck skirt. Old school style. Visor rattles like hell at speed, but you can quiet it down by glueing a few foam squares to the back of it.
I highly recommend motorcycle-superstore - they usually ship the next day, and their "in-stock" indicators really mean in-stock. Shipping isfree with $100, and sometimes less. They price match any deal. Also, they're always closing out stuff I just can't wait to buy!
They ship from Medford, Oregon, so east coast may take a few more days.

I tried the ACC's on at Myrtle Beach. Much thinner but I was extremely dissappointed in fitment for the price, for my head at least. I couldn't pay that much and still not be happy with wearing it.
