I put the kit on few months back as mentioned already the wires are a pain to put threw the new rod.
I didn't jack the bike up i was able to reach right up under the fender and get to everything while laying on the floor.
I did not snip the wires like the book said i snipped them a few inchs from the connector and made my solder point there and another spot that way i had the original connector undisturbed.
I also put some heat shrink on the wires and pushed it in as far as could on the rod where the wires exit and go threw the fender and that added some protection.

I agree that I don't really like them but they are only temporary. I'm working on a design for a sort of custom led setup but don't quite have the money to have it done yet. Soon I hope.
