Just met up with Eric (ericsenf) at Buff wild wings and had a bite to eat, and BS about bikes... he has got ONE POWERFUL BIKE! gave me some awesome ideas!
He also hooked me up with a set of V&H short shot Pipes off his bike... they are from an 04'... I ride an 06 St bob, stage 1, with SERT... how do i make these pipes work on my bike???? please please please someone help me out!
HOW DO I MAKE THIS HAPPEN?
Eric, thanks again buddy it was great to meet ya look forward to putting on some miles when it warms up and doing some paint work to your bike...
- how do i make V&H short shots off an 04 Dyna work on my 06 St bob? someone out there has to know?
major fit differences with pipes from 04 vs a newer dyna would be fitting around the swingarm, rear wheel, etc if I remember correctly, but you're talking about short pipes so that might not be an issue. Of course manufacturers sell them as being different due to the 02 sensors but that's easily eliminated. Are the brake controls in the same place on an 06? I would think that the tranny foot controls on the left might be in a different position for an 06 Bob vs an 04 due to the 06 having a 6speed if they are then the brake controls on the other side might be in a different spot. You could probably weld in some 02 sensor positions, IDK.
Just force em on there!
Sell em on ebay for as much as possible and get some new shortshots to fit, they're about the cheapest pipe you can get. Thank Eric for the pipes and by the beer next time.
Are you running PCIII? If so, don't need the 02 sensors because DynoJet doesn't use 'em. As to the rest - shorts should have fewer fit issues, but you could always find an indy to bend 'em a bit here and there if you needed to. Or just do like OCC, and get a buddy to help you bend them around a door frame. Don't laugh - it works - sorta.
The $$ you saved on the pipes will prolly pay for the PCIII! Good find!
Just running the screaming eagle race tuner... and stage 1 with slip ons... not sure about the fitment issue, the appear to look like they will fit just fine to be honest, but i will not ahve the bike back from getting the 25* injectors till later in the week, so i will not know for sure, $$ is an issue, being that I do not have any to toss around... just put a bid on a new house, if it goes though i am MR FIX it and going to FLIP that sucker from a forclosure to nice pad, IT IS A 4 CAR garage TOWN HOUSE! i will have a 4 car garage! SICK! but need to save, I can get the pipes to fit i am sure, how do i deal with the other issues, thanks for all the help so far guys!
You are probably better off selling what you got on ebay and buying a new set. I think it would be to much of a hassle when you can get a new set of SS's for about $300.

+1 -- you already have a good set-up, why mess around by cheaping out and possibly ruining a saleable item? Get the right pipes for your bike and sell the others, or just stay with what you already have (for now) until finances improve. You'll likely be needing a dyno tune or at least a remap with the "new" pipes, so ya gotta figure that cost in, too.
