Ok I finally got around to installing the mini apes on my 07 FXDC and all of the cables fit except for the front brake line. Top part that comes off of the master cylinder is hard metal then goes to rubber then hard line again. I need about 1 1/2” more out of this line!
One question if I loosen the bolt on the side of the master cylinder to rotate the line down a bit will I educe air into the brake line? Anyone bend this before and if so have any recommendations? I thought I would ask first before I started bending the crap out of stuff. I all ready ruined my left grip trying to rip it off and thought I would take a break and ask before I got medieval on the brake line this time!
You can get away with gentle and gradual bends. Aggressive bends may have you standing at a parts counter. Be careful where the banjo is welded to the steel line. If you loosen the banjo bolt, you will need to bleed the front brakes. I bought a $25.00 hand operated vacuum pump from a local parts chainafter trying to bleed using other methods.
Thanks for the info so far! If I do mess it up anyone know what the part # is for the street bob version of this line? I would assume I would need the SB version?
Thanks for the input! I went ahead and bought a new line from Zanottii along with some new grips since I killed my left one being a animal and cutting it after not totally undoing the screws!
