Quick ? I dont have the money to get slipons highflow air cleaner & download yet but cant stand the stock sound my brother used a keyhole saw and very nicely removed the baffels from his wifes sporty would the o2 sensers keep it from runing to lean.
With just slip ons, typically you'll be fine. The closed loop system on the 06 Dyna's will compensate to a small degree but the factory map, and the stage 1 map for that matter, will always calabrate and adjust to the lean end of the range.
I got used to the idea that my bike would eventually end up with a TFI/DFO, Power commander or SERT unit even if it were bone stock.
i have seII slip ons and the air cleaner, but i didn't do the download yet, but the bike runs fine w/out the download. I get the occational pop here and there but the o2's compansate enough. the factory pipes w/out the baffles, as i was told, you will loose backpressure and it may not run right, but i don't know for sure. I will do the download in the spring when its at the dealer for the recall. I was hoping it might give some extra power
i call BS-----even the slightest mod to the exhaust puts you in the lean zone. the bike is lean from the factory. if you know anything about tuning, or plug reading, you would give different advice.
be warned, if you mod the exhaust and or air cleaner, you need to retune-----period!!
I gess there is a big diffrance of opinion here I realize there lean from the factory and plan on geting a down load but if they were that senistive it seemes to me you would need a diffrent map for colorodo than you would galviston tx.
The closed loop on the 06 dynas does not compensate enough for intake and exhaust mods. It will still run lean. It adjusts within certain paraters and these mods put it outside of them. There is a 06 specific download for this bike if you choose to go with the HD download.
thanks for the info now i get it! would it hurt to install the down load first . and I know that removing the baffels is not the best for pefomance but with the down load would that be suficant for now. thanks TCSTD i thought the down load would be more exspencive
ok, i read it. My question remains, why would it be MORE lean without putting more air in? I realize it may be lean to begin with.
This is what I read.
If the V.E. is altered the stock
ECM fuel settings continue to deliver fuel at a base-line rate unaware that the air
delivery has changed. With the fuel delivery unchanged and the fact that this
engine is receiving more air there is a lean condition created that will most likely
cause engine damage due to higher heat levels in the combustion
