couldnt afford heat wrap right now so i said screw it and painted the heat shields outa boredom, looks good i think but i like em wrapped better so thatll happen very soon i hope. left the end caps chrome to see how thatd look, looks ok i guess.. damn i wanta wrap em!
!
thanks, . hey was wondering if you pulled your tubes off or jus lubed em up and slipped the gaitors up em to get them on? dont feel like pulling all that apart to get them on.
as for the gaiters, I took my sliders out of the trees.
Jack up the bike, remove your brake caliper bolts, loosen the pinch bolts for the trees and slide them down. I think it was easier than removing the wheel and trying to slide the gaiters up.
i used rustoleum high heat paint, guy at true value said it was a better choice over the krylon version because rustoleums is for metal surfaces only unlike krylons which has multi surface... personally i notice no difference i think the krylon was actually a nicer deeper black and had alil almost satin look that matched the black denim alil better.
i just had a brain fart and realized i had half a roll of heat wrap left from my last pipes , found it, did the math and measured how much i had left and suprise suprise i got over 20feet which is more then enough. i just wasted my time on these shields. oh well ill wait a couple weeks and paint the pipes and wrap em. DOH! love it when i find stuff i can do for free!
