Ok all, I need opinion.
I have worked hard to make my bike my own as much as possible. It's hard these days with so many street bobs around. I'm sure everyone agrees so far. I'd like to pass on my thanks because without the amazing ideas and help from so many in this forum I would have not been able to achieve my goals. I can honestly say that my bike is not an intentional copy of any other bike I have seen. It'sthe idea I had pictured when I bought it new. Several detailswere added from great ideas on the forum. Often I have shared my experiences and information about my bike to aid in the modification of other forum members bikes which is very flattering however, twice in the last month someone has approached me with the same bike, paint set and all, looking to emulate it exactly. Asking every detail. Wheel, badges, controls, shocks, plate, front supension, bars, seat, etc.I'm not sure how I feel about that. Should I share? I'm not a selfish person and I regularly post pics of my scoot for the purpose ofhelping others with ideas.
On one hand, whats the harm? It's unlikely I would ever see it, right? What about here on the forum though? who wants to see an exact copy of their bike on another persons signature? Truly i'm flattered for sure. I have recieved amazing feedback on my bike. Maybe I'm just being a *****, after all it is 1 am.
I know where you are coming from...copying someone is the best for of flattery...and it can be annoying too.
This site has given me so many ideas and like you it has helped me make my bike what it is.
Granted, it is a far cry from some of the bikes on here. So I guess I would be flattered as hell if someone told me they loved my bike and wanted to do some of the things I had on mine.
BTW I love your bike...and if I had the $$ I would copy yours!! JK maybe
Besides...it's yours, it makes you happy and it's the way you want it. It's about the ride. F the others.
Just share the info. Chances are they wont even remember and probably wont have the money. When it comes down to it you know that you are trying to be original and that's what matters
i would'nt sweat it i have seen bike even on the forum close to mine .but still some differnce. wit as many bikes out there there is going to be bikes close to some one else's . look at it like this they just have good taste too.
Don't worry so muchabout what the other guy has. If you really want to be original buy a scooter and customize it because everyone it seems has a Harley.
Just post up the info if you want then forget about it and go ride. Like you said you will probably never see the guys asking about your bike on here anyways.
And then there's always the reply to truly imitative questions, "Jeez, I really can't remember exactly, I think it was a .... no, sorry, can't quite pull it out of the old brain!"

But really, take it for the compliment the inquiries represent, and if you feel somewhat imposed on, just voice your concerns. Be honest and share what you're comfortable with - don't know where I'd be without the help and ideas shared with forum members, after all, that's really why we're all here!
DITTO: I seriously doubt one of your riding buddys or anyone else for that matter is going to copy your bike tit-for-tat because of the same reason you have such concern about; they won't want theirs to look exactly like yours..be flattered that you did a good job and someone else recognized that fact.

You just hit one of the best points of this site - is to get ideas from others.
Don't be stingy and just post all of the details Don't worry I promise not to copy your paint....
Thanks to all, I have never NOT shared any info about my bike. After all, it's not exactly G13 classified.
Ok, I will openly share all that I know. Shouldn't take long.
