Default bent primary cover

Just a little history on the bike.....it's a dyna sport 2001. I bought it used and it was dropped on the left side, with a couple of scratches on the primary cover. This weekend I was doing fluid changes and when I took the clutch inspection cover off I noticed that it was bent in on the bottom. It does not interfere with the clutch shell or the drive chain. It seems to seal well. Haven't taken it out for a ride yet (too much frick'n snow) but I ran it up and down the driveway, clutch shifts just fine. Should I be worried?

One more thing, the primary drain plug..... The manual says to keep 4mm of thread sticking out (not to drive it in all the way) What's your opinion on this? Seems pretty loose to me.

I wouldn't worry about it. As far as your drain plug is concerned, find out the torque value on it. Torque it to the specified torque rating.

Your drain plug is a pipe thread plug. It will never really feel "tight". My suggestion....leave it,
and check for leaks. If it does leak, give it a quarter turn, and continue checking for leaks.

I posted a similar question not to long ago.

Believe it or not I have gotten those new from Harley that were bent , So it may have been that way ,or someone over tightened it.

Go to your nearest NAPA parts and ask for some Pipe Thread Sealant (PTS) w/ teflon. It will seal the threads and is a mild adhesive to hold it from backing out. It's true tho, if it's overtightened it is possible to crack your primary around the threaded area.
you don't need a big tube and a little goes a long way.
