Have taken the plunge and ordered a pair of light adjusting 'Brick' model on sale or return.
No retailer actually stocks the Wileys so it's a pia getting to try them.
I've got two pair that I was issued in the sand box. I wear them riding every day, but only because the damn dog ate my other glasses. The ones I wear have a rigid bridge for over the nose and it starts to hurt on long rides. I've got a funny shaped nose so most glasses are a pain anyhow. As for everything else, they're great.
Have you tried the old scuba trick of a drop or two of dishwashing detergent or J&J No More Tears liquid soap on the inside of the lenses when they are dry before you head out? Just spread it out thoroughly on the lenses with your finger tips and you should be good in most potential fogging situations. Doesn't last forever, so re-coat before the next trip. Before I remembered this I had tried Rain-X Anti-fog wipes which didn't work very well at all.
Damn Chip. I thought the "old scuba trick" was to spit onto my mask to keep it from fogging......
Never heard about the products you mentioned.
And I agree with 2007fxdc, it's all about the fitment to get a good pair working of glasses.
I wear prescription sunglasses- Oakley Half Jackets most of the time, but I have some of the ones you can order from the dealer (don't know the name but they have HD on the side) for riding. They have a snap in/out foam surround that keeps out the wind. I like the O's better most of the time, but the H-D ones were half the price (roughly $200 compared to $400) and work great riding at any speed. I'd get some clear ones if I rode much at night.
One thing I learned about wearing non-shatterprrof glasses like oakleys, your favorite pari of aviators, etc. is...... DONT WEAR THEM ! Catch a rock dead in the eye with one and see what happens. luckily i did not get anything in my eye, but if i did it woulda sucked[:@]
I wore a pair of Oakely M-Frames in Iraq and still got some pits from explosion debris in them in addition to being cracked and faded. But the plastic still held up. My biggest complaint about the Wiley's that I wore were they fogged up too easily, even with an "air deflector", and the band was too loose. I've got another pair I bout as an emergency but I'll still wear my Oakely Flak Jackets for better vision and fit.
I'm willing to try anything with glasses but they gotta be right for the price.
I just got 2 pairs of prescription Wiley's. can't remember which model, but they have the removable foam gasket. The last riding glasses I had worked well with the gasket, but the Wiley's fit better without it, which is great. No problems with mine so far.
