I'm going to leave them in and see if they work out. I do like the deeper growl. I tweaked the settings on the FuelPak for the install, and I did notice a lot more backpressure. When in 3rd gear and coming to a stop, the bike almost stops on it's own. I like that!!! I always downshift, and it's good to know that the baffles have helped in that respect. I've had the stock baffles in for almost 2 years, so it's just "new", and it'll take some getting used to. I'm just looking for the ringing in my ears to stop on our long trips. We do a lot of freeway riding, and it gets real old, real fast.

Thanks for all the input guys!!!!!!

Drill a 5/8" hole in the closed/inside end of the quiet baffle...Mine are friggin' perfect! Sound way better than the "stock" baffles, IMO...Install is easy - just don't plan on removing them quickly, as the fiber glass expands and gets stuck in there...
I did something a little different.I opened up the small holes 2 drill sizes bigger. I then wrapped them tightlywith thin sheet fiberglass, the kind that body shops use to repair f'glass bodies. p.s-if you want just a little more quiet and more bottom end power than stock baffles, try khromewerks drag pipe baffles.

No such thing as dumb questions...These are actually the Vance and Hines baffles we're talking about. FIt only the VHs.
I'm pretty sure they fit the Python's also (made by V&H).

The "Quiet" baffles weren't quite quiet enough for my taste, I'm adding the Thunder Baffles this weekend...

I hope so, while I think they sound great I'm tired of my ears ringing hours after I've gotten off my bike. =\

Aren't the Thunder Baffles a lot louder than the stock baffles?

I want to quieten down my Shortshots even though they are fitted with the quiet bafles. Would the Khromekerks drag baffles help, are they fitted with or instead of the quiet baffles?

Here's a video I found showing the difference between V&H stock baffles and "quiet" baffles. I would say it is dead on for sound.
