I'm getting my bike painted soon probably with a black base coat and candy tangerine flames. I know there are lots of different types of paints for base coats, but I don't know much about paint. What type would you recommend to go with the candy tangerine flames? Thanks in advance
A lot depends on what the painter likes to use. Many have a brand preference or loyalty because they've had good success with a certain product. Personally, I was always a DuPont Chroma series guy. But that was for automotive work. I liked the flow and curing characteristics.
I prefer Sikkens AutoBase Plus or Dupont Chroma Premier. Ther candy concentrate is a House of Kolor Product. They will tell you to ONLY use other Valspar or House of Kolor products with it. Its all B.S., but if something goes wrong you cant blame them. As long as you use a good name brand Urethane base, Urethane Clear and a Urethane candy everything will go as planned. When you start mixing Urethane Base with Laquer based Kandys and then urethane clear you'll have problems. If you are getting it painted why are you worrying about it? Stress is the painters job. You ever met a painter that wasnt drunk 85% of the time? Stress I tell ya lol
i use ppg global i love it because ive been using it for ever go black then a silver for the candy ill pop really well with a silver underneath it use house of kolor ppg also has custom colors the hot wheels colors are really great the series is call vibrance
House of Kolor Brandywine kandy basecoat with red marbelizer and cinder red metallic intertwined flames. Four topcoats of Brandywine kandy to finish it off:
Its so glossy I can't get a decent pic because of all the relection, but I ain't complaining!!
