in my state, front and rear reflectors on both sides are required to pass inspection. something ive been considering doing is getting some of that reflective tape, and just putting it on the outward side of the front signals, so i could clean up the forks

Stag has the best idea here, one I'd thought of before (because yeah the 'flecs look like poo-poo. Retro-reflective poo-poo at that!). Places sell black reflective tape, also other colors, but for a Fat Bob especially you can rip off the factory plastic orange 'flecs and put some black reflective tape down, you won't hardly see it's there, until a car headlight (esp one with blues on the roof) shine on it an will shine like factory (but white, not orange). It's cool stuff:

Here's another type you can buy for 10 bucks for a kit, they seem to think it's the best:

Yes they help at night , why else wre they put on ? I think its a personal choice to remove them. I think a biker should do what they can to be seen and heard. Just my 2 cents. As far as the what others think my bike should look like, I dont give a rats ***.

When I got T-boned, I was wearing my work coat. It is a DOT approved "Type III" Flourescent yellow which exceeds the Minimum 200 square inches of reflective striping.

When I got the coat for work, someone joked about using it to land Aircraft in the fog, it's so bright.

What were the first words out of the mouth of the person who ran into me?
"I never saw you!"

Somehow, I don't think the reflectors made a bit of difference, one way or the other.
And IMHO, unless the bike is stopped and you are looking at it from a right angle,
they can't be seen anyway.

That being said, mine are still on. But only because it never occurred to me to remove them.

Mine are staying on. They do not interfere with the wind in my face or the sweet music from my Vance & Hines..

Can you see me now?

I took mine off. if I wanted to be safe, I'd drive a Volvo, a beige one.

Debating on whether I should take the side reflectors off on my Fat Bob. Don't they help at night?
If the bikes didnt come with them, and Harley sold them on the website or in the dealers, everyone here would be adding them as "mods".

Hahahah. Too funny. You might have a point there.
