lowering 07 super glide
I was wondering what size progressive shock's I should get to lower 1 inch my 07 super glide ? and is progressive a good shock ?
412-4037B/C is a 11" shock and will lower you 1.5 inches. B/C is for black or chrome.
412-4036B/C is an 12" shock and will lower you 0.5 inches.
If you want to split the difference and go 1 inch lower as you stated then you need 418-4837B/C which are 11.5" and drop you 1 inch.
Those are the standard shock part numbers, if you want the heavy duty versions the part numbers are different. You can find all this info on Progressive's website...did you look by chance?
Thank you
You seem to know quiet a bit about shocks. Can you tell me how you think the ride would compare between the stock super glide shock and the 11" progressive shock?
Thank you
1. They look cooler
2.They handle different
3. They feel different
1. Looking cooler doesn't need any explanation
2. They are a progressive rate spring which is different than the stock spring. I don't feel like typing out the long version on what a progressive rate means but you can look that up on your own.
3. Because they're a progressive rate spring they feel different over bumps. They hit hard. They're not soft and plush. They're performance oriented; hence progressive rate.
To answer your question, the ride is very different. It's rougher yet more connected; there's no bouncing around. If you're looking for comfort then the stock shock is going to be more comfortable. If you want everything else that a progressive rate shock offers then that's for you.
Somebody else may disagree and say they're more comfortable but mechanically it's impossible for a progressive rate shock to be more comforatable than a non-progressive rate shock. If you don't believe me take a ride in a race car or my Cobra for that matter.
