I have a 2008 Dyna Glide Super Glide Custom and took a passanger out which in turn makemy rear end lower how can I properly adjust the back shocks to properly take a passenger without having the rear end sound like itsbottoming out when I hit a bump?
Do you have a shock spanner tool? If not, go to the dealer and get one, very cheap. The shocks have 5 adjustments. If you are standing behind the bike, you turn it all the way to the left for the #1 position, and all the way to the right for #5. #1 is the lightest load, okay if you are solo, adjust it to 3-5 for a passenger. A lot depends on your weight and the weight of the passenger.
Just bought one today. It was $10.49 at my local dealer. I put some SB shocks on my SG and they came to me in the softest setting, I set them to the middle. Real easy to do. Standing behind the bike, clockwise makes them stiffer, counter-clockwise for softer.
Blade, either I'm stupid or blind but I went out to my bike and cant see any number on the rear shocks as you stated. Can you supply a photo or give me a good area to look? Thanks
There aren't any "numbers" to be found. There are five settings. There are slots on the bottom of the shock, Place your spanner wrench there and follow the previous instructions. Do you have an owners manual?

Your'e not blind, the FXDC shocks has that covering over them that makes it hard to see what setting you have them on.

As stated, there are no numbers. You just turn it, and you'll feel it pop into each location. When you can't turn anymore to the left, that is #1.
I run mine on #1, since I ride solo and only weigh 185#.
On my stock shocks (06 SG) there are indeed numbers on the outside of theshock. The SB shocks I bought do not have them. If you get down and look up underneath the shock, you can get an idea, and most likely tell which "number" you are on.
