Default Saddlebags or sissy bar bag?

I don't have a sissy bar on my bike yet. The wife wants me to get one pretty soon to make it more comfy for her to ride. I really need some storage on the bike for trips to work to carry clothes and lunch etc. Should I get a sissy bar and a bag to go on it or saddlebags for storage? If I go with saddlebags I'd like to use the easy brackets so they can be easily removed and not scratch up the fender.

If you get a sissy bar for her, then I'd just get a t-bag for it. Save you lots. Won't have to buy saddlebags, move the turn sigs, buy the brackets etc.

My 2cents, I don't care for saddlebags on my Wide Glide, so I got the sissy bar bags. They are OK but I am tired of tying, untying, strapping and unstrapping. I just orderd a set of throwover bags that I will test.

Basically, it's your preference, budget, setup etc. For the initial cost, I bought theT bags first, which I can later use toadd for long road rips when I need the extra storage. Depending how I like the saddlebags, I will probally leave those on for everyday use depending on the look, fit and ease of use. I think I paid $89 for thesissybar bags + sissy bar and pad and $189 for somesaddlebags from Real Hog.

Good luck with your decision, Since I bought my bike, I spend 50% of mybrain powerdeciding on what accessories to buy. It's seems these are tougher decisions than what bike to buy.

Later

Definitely sissy bar and T bag. Don't care for saddlebags on bikes unless they are factory hardbags on a touring bike. I have the detachable sideplates and sissy bar so I can take it all off and have the stock bike. It does involve removing the taillights and remounting them with a through bolt but I think it is worth it. Good luck.

Ride Safe.

Thanks for the opinions guys. I do like the look of the stock bike. I think I will go with the sissy bar and bag. Now....I gotta start looking at sissy bar bags...Trick, you are right on! Deciding on accessories is a pain. There are just so many options. You hate to spend that much money on accessories hoping you get what you really want. I guess that's why there are so many questions repeated over and over here. Opinions and experience really help when shopping for the right accessory.

I have them all, but used to use the oldWillie & Maxsissy bar bag I got off eBay for $19.00 a lot. Now I use it for road trips. It fits with the bike pretty well and has quite a bit of room along with extra storage for small stuff in the side pockets. The bag is holding up well in spite of its age.

I just put on the quick detach sissy bar. Did it myself in about 2 hours, in the driveway. All HD stuff, including the directional relocation kit (need it if you're going without bags). I did get the sport luggage rack too though. It bolts right into/onto the sissy bar. I like this because I HATE the look of all the "stuff" back there (but it makes my wife happy), but can either have the bar and rack on, orhavethe bike "naked" in less than 20 seconds.
