06 Street bob- Wanting to get new risers and I don't know what to look for in terms of bolt size and thread type. Also, can i change out the bolts completely, if so what are my limitations?
if you're referring to the riser bolt dimensions (the large bolt that holds the risers to the top tree)
then all standard HD (both OEM and aftermarket) rises use 1/2"-13 UNC bolts.
they should be minimum Grade-5 bolts.
thread and stem length depends on the specific application/riser combination
Some people have raised there bars slightly like an inch or so with a spacer/slug that goes between the top tripple tree and the riser. I thought maybe thats why your were asking about the bolt size.
No slugs. Last year I put cheap 16 in apes on to see if I was liked the height. I left enough slack in the cables to be able to go up at least another 2 if not 4 inches. I love the height so now I am going to spend some money on some cool risers and bars.
