Oil in Air Cleaner?
I have an 07 Street Bob with a K&N (3909), SE pipes, and V&H Fuel Pak. Today I removed the stock air cleaner cover, removed the K&N filter, and found a light coat of engine oil around the upper part of the filter. It has been on and run for 6 months/1500 miles. The filter still looks cleanish (red with some slight darkening). The bike has a blubber when downshifting (common complaint with the Fuel Pak) and I reset the code as per guidance off of the website a few months ago. No leaks around the exterior of the jugs. Sometimes the bike fils to catch on the first try, and pops (backfires), but it sounds like a carburator pop, not exhaust. Weird for a fuely bike? Any input would be appreciated, this is my first HD.

get used to the oil on the filter... HD had the bright idea of venting the breather back into the intake... STUPID... so on long runs you may want to suck just a bit of oil out or else you will see that in the filter (it is normal) you can get breathers that reroute it so it no longer vents int eh AC... mud actually posted a do it yourself in the $50 thread...

THis is a cool forum, cause I notice the same thing on mine. The bike ran fine though. I cleaned it out and then looked at the service manual. THats when I notice the way the engine vents, it could get oil into the A/C.
