I'm a reformed rice burner rider. Had a 750 twin Kawasaki and it was very nimble in traffic. I just bought a 07 Dyna Bobber and I find it handles heavy and sluggish in intersections and traffic. Keep in mind I'm 63 yrs old but I wish I had the agility of the Kow. My guess is he will like the one with the shortest wheelbase if he's coming from Jap bikes. If he wasn't, he wouldn't know the difference.
Its got to be the Super Glide Custom in my book. Ive ridden the others on test and I much prefer the set up of the stock fxdc, thats why I bought one, however it is riders choice and as the saying goes 'what's one mans meat is anothers poison', My advice is for your son to go and demo each model....Stay Safe
Well, the best handling (and stopping) has to be an older bike. FXB Sturgis. Nimble, light and pretty quick. Much more so then my current Street Bob. The best way to tell is to go ride some of em. Find a dealer with a wide selection and go riding.
my son's been ridin rice rockets for 35 years and finaly wants to get his first harley. he likes my 05 fxdci but what is the best handling dyna. thanks for your opinions
The Fat Bob. Fat Bob or SG. That bigger front tire contact patch of the FB with the smaller diameter wheel. The rakes are the same but the Fat Bob has perhaps a little better trail combo coupled with its shorter wheelbase. The SG surely does have the lean angle over the FB in stock form and is a little lighter...... but it has only 1/2 the front brakes of the Fat Bob ...brakes are part of the performance equation as well.
Either one will be satisfactory however.
