Not sure if this little "Trick" will still work but before you go out and spend a bundle(Though it sure is fun!) try a 3/4 drive "36" socket extention in the muffler and give ita good rap! Sounds crude I know, but it opens up the "Knuckle" inside the baffle just enough to make it sound like a Harley should! Then you can see if you really want to spend the cash for replacement muffs or an entire system?
Can't go wrong with Vance and Hines pipes...pretty much the standard of the industry IMHO...or Sampson...two of my favorites. Will significantly improve the sound. This cult of political correctness has even invaded the motorcycle world. Now they're telling us "Loud pipes don't save lives" and don't irritate your neighbor. I'm not buying it!
