I'm a little confused about this....if I buy detachable sideplates for a sissy bar for my 06 FXDI, do I need the read turn signal relocation kit to install it? I don't have saddlebags or anything installed back there now.
I had the similair question a few weeks ago, I didnt want to move the TS to the rear with the license plate and post a question on the forum a couple of guys game up with a good set up to where the TS stay in the same location just extended out enough to fit the detachable set up, I bought the kit but I have not installed it yet. Right now, you have the rear turn signalmounting bolt going through one hole in your strut and the turn signal wiring going through another hole, just in front of the mounting hole.
The relocation kit doesn't really relocate your signals. It just provides a round, hollow stalk used for moutning the signal and feeding the wiring through. This way, the signals only use the most rearward of the two holes in the strut. The detachable sideplates can now attach on the docking bushings on the new stalks. Adecorative plateis included which covers teh now vacant front hole.
