I used the Radio Shack siren #273-079and mine chirps when activated. I also kept the dust cap on the bike connector, I drilled 2 tiny holes in it, stick the siren wires thru and into the pins then sealed the cap with silicone. I used 2 sided tape to secure the siren behind the fuse panel where it belongs.
I used the same siren (I think, it's been a while since I bought it but I think it's the only one available from Radio Shack). I wonder why yours chirps and mine doesn't. Maybe I buggered something up installing it or the connection is not right. I thought about using the dust cap but I had already soldered the pins on and didn't want to take them off.
I, too, used 3M two-sided tape and put the siren on the top of the frame beam. No way could I get it behind the electrical panel as that is where the PCIII USB resides now.
I'll see if water affects it sooner or later. Probably sooner as it is supposed to rain again this Friday and Saturday.

The chirp feature is supposed to be programable, you can activate it or turn that feature off using your turn sigs, but I haven't read the manual and can't say how to do it.
Behind the fuse panel if you are looking at it from the front, there is a space, a tiny shelf, on the rear right where the siren gets mounted, not that it really matters

Did the same thing..... $ 4.95 from radio shack. 2 chirps for armed, 1 for disarmed.
Irritates the hell out of better half if I set it off by accident. Can't turn it off for thirty
seconds. Annoying little bugger, but that's what it is for.
Have seen people just touch the bars and it sets out a short warning and they move off.
