My '05 Parts Manual shows the GAS TANK to have the same part number model for model. e.g. Wide Glide to Wide Glide.
Some of the attachment hardware, the fuel level sender, filler cap, fuel gage, etc is the same.
However, some internal/external hardware like, hoses, pumps, filters, fuel regulators are different.
Without more specifics, the answer is no, you cannot interchange the tank.
If you want a project, and you are willing to spend some money on parts/labor, then yes you could interchange the tanks.
Your H-D dealer could show you specifically what parts you'll need and give you an idea of the cost involved.
What may be more problematic is the year of the tank in question. Because HD has changed fuel injection systems, etc,
you would need to check to see if the tank is compatible with your YEAR motorcycle.
you can go from carb to and efi tank you will just have to buy the adapter that allows you put put a petcock in. and remove the fuel pump as will not need it. now you can't go the opposite way though
as the carb tank you can't put the fuel pump in because the top of the tank is solid and does not have the access panel that the efi tank has.
