Ok guys, I'm a neewb and need help, enclosed are pics of a bike that I might buy. They are the owner's photos that they e-mailed to me. I've never seen the bike. I sold a Sportster a few months ago and thinking about a Dyna model.
1.) What's with the "yellow" plug wires? Do you think they are stock? Can they be changed to a more neutral color (they stick out like a sore thumb in my opinion.)?
2.) If I remove the rear bags, will there be a bracket on each side that can be removed as well? I'm assuming yes, but if I look at the bike in person I want to know what to look for.
3.) That's one of the oddest lookng windshields I've seen and was disappointed it was not the fairing type of shield I've seen on other Sports.
Any help would be welcomed and appreciated, thanks.

A guy i work with has an '05 and his bike is bone stock-no yellow wires, black.
The bags look like throw-overs and might have a support bracket under them which should be easy to remove if you wanted to.
Windshield is strange...aftermarket of some kind, HD has some nice one's that can be removed in seconds if you want that stripped
down look. Those look like they are bolted on. Nice looking bike though...
Except for that wind-screen(loose it):
Great Lookin bike!
I love those black-out models.
If the guy did it rite, there will be supports underneath that can be removed fairly easily, but, if you get it and start using the bags you'll never have to remove them!
Spark plug wires are Black stock, easily changed.
Absolutely, I know I would ditch 'em immediately after, if I buy the bike. Same thing for the windshield, front bag and looks like the guy even has some type of sack bag hanging on the bars/windshield (look closely).
Thanks for the advice thus far. As far as the wires are concerned, what do you think they'll run me to buy them. I figure if they are probably just "push on" type wires and that i can do that myself. Heck, think I'll just tell the Dealer to put 'em on when they do the inspection.
On a side note, I would go for a new SG but for '08, MOCO decided not to offer any other colors than black and silver. And I want to get away from the basic gray wrinkle finish.
Ditch the bags, wires & windshield and you will have a nice bike. You can do the wires yourself easy peasy. Get yourself a service manual for it too.
That's a great looking bike. get rid of the "tool bag" hanging down the front, the wind shield looks like a tombstone or a windvest model, get rid of it also, I'd keep the bags long enough to see if there are brackets under them that would accept another style of bag, but hey that's your call. Ask two questions 1) does he have the owners manual. I believe the forks and shocks have extra adjusting knobsand 2) have the valve guide seals been replaced on that 05, oil consumption issue on 05's, ask if that has been an issue. Enjoy the find, I think that's the last year for the FXDX.
Get rid of the wind screen, bags and plug wires and your left with a good looking bike. You seem to be hung up on a lot of incidential stuff that you can fix yourself with very little investment of time or money.
