Hope you don't mind if I come over from the sportster forum to ask this question: I have a line on a '99 Low with 20K miles. Has a bunch of MoCo add ons and a custom paint, but the motor has never been opened. Carb. I can buy it for about 8900. Good looking bike that appears to be well cared for. I am a little concerned about the twin cam motor, some people like to slam them you know. Is there an issue with the cam bearings or something that I need to be aware of? I can turn a wrench, but I don't want to have to replacea case or anything. I would appreciate any opinions/warnings/praises and etc. Thanks in advance.
I have a 2000 with 32,000 miles and never had any engine issues. See if you can get the guy down to $8000...check the blue book value and what they're going for on Ebay. The dyna line does not sell that well on Ebay (I followed them for a long while). They did have some sort of cam or bearing issues with the 99's ..which is the first year they came out but not the entire year long run. If you callthe factorythey could probably give you the info or it's probably on line or check with your local Stealer for more info. Does the guy have pics of the bike...lets see what your getting...

I am gona be in minority but @ 8900 for it doesnt seem to far outta line.btw get the vin number off of it go to hd site it will tell you if that bike falls in the cam bearing issue.it affects bike built before 12-14-1999 i believe.if its in the site offer him 8200 or 3 aand tell him you will need the difference to put a good bearing in it
Hello All,
I really do appreciate all of your comments. I have looked a little and it does appear that while in the range it is a bit at the top end of the range. Of course pretty much every harley owner I've ever known (including me) believes their bike is worth more than it probably is. Anyway, I am thinking I may try to torque him down a little. I looks good and clean. The only thing I see that needs attention is the rear tire. I am going to try to embed his picture, but you can't see much. Thanks again.
I think $8900 is to high. Heck 2008brand new super glides are only $12,000. Last year I picked up a 81 Shovel Super glide for $6000 that the owner put $1000s into it. I have seen EVO super glides and wide glides for around $6K also.
