Hey all, I'm installing a pair of cams this weekend and have a question to those who've done it....
I have the manual and the directions a pretty straightforward...i KNOW i need the 'oil pump alignment screws'- those are imperative....but do i really need those thing which appear to be 'luxury' tools like the 'cam base' and the 'cam guides'
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Paul
...oh, and as far as the SERT situation goes with my other post from yesterday... the dealer hung onto my SERT in anticipation of my 1K service.... still wish they had told me that when i bought the bike
Ask about cams in the technical forum under engine/exhaust etc. guys over there really know their chit.!
I am going to swap out my cams also, I've learned a lot from them.
Also, if you haven't seen this yet, check out the cam comparator at www.bigboyzcycles.com it is very good, can compare three cams at a time.
Some of those tools are apparently not needed, but most don't cost much..
Good luck!, I'd like to know which cams you are going to use.
hey labfreak...i have the HQ 'hurricane' cams with the EZ install pushrods.... i'm psyched to do this and then have it tuned.... Kevin at HQ is a very cool guy and is straight up when it comes to answering any questions..... will keep everyone posted as to how the install went and what the subsequent results were - as far as performance goes
