Yep....I've got the front end clunk now on my 06 Super Glide. Just started today, or at least I just noticed it today. It's pretty loud and pretty bad everytime I hit a good bump in the road. Sounds like the front end is falling apart. I called Mobile Bay HD and they were pretty helpful. I had the parts guy look up the M-1215a service bulletin. He actually found a M-1215b. I had them order the kit with the new washer. Not sure if I will do it myself or have them do it. Depends on whether they will fix it under warranty and how long it will take. The dealership is an hour and a half from my house. Hopefully that will fix the problem. I've looked at everything else I can think of and nothing else seems to make that sound.
Thanks too by the way....another example of how great this forum is. I would not have known what to do about this had I not seen so many posts dealing with this problem. This forum has been an invaluable resource.
I checked the fuel tank bolts because I read that on here somewhere too. They were tight. I can roll the bike backwards and nail the front brake and hear the clunk quite loud when the forks extend. I hope the washer will take care of the problem.
Yellowhawk, you will need a 1 1/2 inch socket, and a torque wrench and about 5 min. Unscrew the chrome cap, use a hammer and a screwdriver to take the bend out of the old washer, unscrew the nut, take out old washer, replace with new washer torque down nut to 80 ft. lbs. replace chrome cap, wipe off finger prints, have beer [sm=icon_guiness.gif]
I've got an AME Chopper kit, the kit replaces the OEM fork stem totally, in fact there is no traditional stem at all, just at ball joint from the upper tripple tree thats torqued down in an adapter in the lower tripple tree.
