Default Heavy Duty Clutch

Has anyone put a heavy duty clutch kit in and what is the advantage ( I adjusted my clutch and it seems that after 200mi the clutch lever is almost all the way out before it grabs) I have the HD shop book and did the adjust exactly as shone in the book. So I was thinking that installing the heavy duty clutch would help!!!

thanks for all the input

I have the HD Clutch Spring to help eliminate slipping with
the extra HP of the 103". the adjustment was done by dealer when installed.
Its about twice as hard to disengage [:@]
I would double check the adjustment before changing out the clutch.

The regular clutch spring on the 96" is good enough for the 103". I did not change the spring out in my build. It works fine. I am coming up to 2k on my build.

I did the full SE clutch kit with my engine build. I really notice hard lockup and now the stickier tires it is really easy to pull the front wheel off the ground as everything connects nicely. You really shouldn't need to look at another clutch unless you are over 100/100, and even then, the stiffer SE spring with stock clutch will really take you up to about 105-110 on TQ. As I ride 2-up more often than not, I decided to do the full kit vs. just the spring.

try this method of adjustment...............................
[/i]1.[/i] Loosen the clutch cable adjuster and shorten the cable sleeve all the way, but don’t mess with the lever. Just leave it alone until the 3rd step. [/i] 2.[/i] Loosen the lock nut on the clutch pack pushrod adjuster. [/i] 3.[/i] Pull in the clutch lever. it should touch the handle bars. If it does not touch the handle bars back out the pushrod adjuster at the clutch pack while keeping a slight pressure on the clutch lever until it touches the handlebar. [/i] 4.[/i] When the clutch lever just touches the handle bar turn in the pushrod adjuster while keeping a slight pressure on the clutch lever. When you turn in the adjuster it will start to push the lever off the handle bar. Back the adjuster out untill the lever returns to just touching the handle bar. Do this a couple of times untill you know you are at the point where the lever is just touching the bar. When you find this point - back the adjuster out 1/2 turn and lock it down. [/i] 5.[/i] Adjust the clutch cable to 1/8 slack and lock it down. [/i]
