Do you actually need those brackets? Reason I ask is I've been considering some throw-over bags for occasional use. Don't want any permanent fixings cos I don't really like 'em.

thats what i have is a set of throw over an the guy told me just tie them to where ever so i tried it an i can see where some rubbing could happen an the brackets i think will hold them away a bit ,but your right the brackets would be bolted on ,,but i plan on keeping them on also

all i need is the h-d number so i can try on e-bay

They're called saddlebag support brackets. OEM part number for '91 - '01 Dyna Glide is 90589-91C.

They do have removables as well, in the new HD parts Cat. Cool idea if you dont want to ride withthe bags all the time, or have the brackets uglying up the works. Another great idea from the minds at HD

Actually some great minds not at HD came up with the removable brackets. But HD is good at jumping on the wagon when no one is watching! Kinda like the Softail. Some cats in Missouri (IIRC) came up with it, built some, and offered them for sale in Easy Riders mag. Suddenly they went off the market. A year or two later, here comes the Softail.

Since you don't really want to maintain the brackets on the bike, have you considered Ghost Brackets? This allows you to easily remove the bags and with no visible brackets, you can ride free. When the need is there, just put the bags back on the bike with the attached half of the Ghost Brackets. There are some inexpensive ones out there. I got mine for $123.00 Just search around the good prices are there.
