Exhaust Gaskets
i have a set of se crush washers that i've yet to install,
why are they not so good?
The picture explains it better than I could ever type it out.

not trying to create an issue here, but this is a topic i would like to learn more about, thus the request for more infos.
rb racing, for instance, says the se gasket is the best one on the market and recommends it for all bikes fitted with their pipes.
yeah, i'm going be installing my Cobra Dragsters during the week after I finish up my cam job.... when i took out the stock exhaust gaskets and compared them to the SE ones i was like, ??? ...i didn't understand what made the SE ones so much better when the stock ones clearly had more material!

Paul, I agree that what Springer says does make sense.
But, I am not so sure I buy into it completely.
Maybe overtorqued they crush into the port.
I've never seen that.

actually, i saw the picture. the se washer is not a crush washer per se so examining the 2 side by side does not really provide any evidence the se gasket is not as good as stock.

OK, I went out to the shop and had a look at the "stock" seals
that I removed last week when my pipes were off.
I think overtorqueing may crush them into the port blocking it
(these were not overtorqued).
The used ones I am looking at are the same inside diameter
as the Screaming Eagle seals.
I will try to remember to take some pix tomorrow to show
what I am typing here, not so sure I am being clear.
I'd like to see the pictures over there on the Springer Tech Page.
Wonder what happened to Springer, hasn't posted in a long time.
